Umbraco Support in Norfolk
Umbraco is a serious CMS — when it needs attention, you need a developer who knows .NET and Razor.
Umbraco is the most popular open-source .NET CMS in the UK and Northern Europe. It is used by professional services firms, charities, universities, local authorities and mid-size businesses across Norfolk and beyond — organisations that needed more control and flexibility than WordPress could offer, and chose a .NET stack to match their development team or hosting environment.
When an Umbraco site needs attention — whether that is a version upgrade, a broken template, a content type reconfiguration or a full migration — you need a developer with specific .NET and Razor experience. We support Umbraco sites across Norfolk and the east of England, from urgent fixes to planned migrations.

How we support Umbraco sites
Umbraco uses Razor templating on top of ASP.NET, which means the support skillset is distinct from WordPress or Drupal. Template bugs, broken grid editor layouts, failing property editors and content type configuration problems all require .NET-aware diagnosis. We work through the issue methodically — reproducing the fault, checking the document type definitions, reviewing the Razor views, and testing the fix in a staging environment before pushing to production.
We also handle the Umbraco backoffice — content type changes, user and permissions configuration, workflow setup and custom sections. If your editors are struggling with the content management experience, we can restructure the backoffice to make day-to-day content updates more straightforward.
Umbraco version upgrades
Umbraco's major version history involves some significant breaking changes — particularly the move from v7 to v8, and the subsequent shift to .NET 5+ in v9 and v10. Many sites built in 2015–2019 are still running on Umbraco 7 or 8, which are now beyond their support window. Running an unsupported CMS version is a security risk and an increasing technical liability as the .NET framework around it evolves.
We plan and execute Umbraco upgrades carefully. For sites upgrading from v7 to v10+, this typically involves rebuilding the project against the new framework, migrating content and media, and retesting all templates and custom code. The scope depends heavily on how much custom development the original site contained. We scope this work properly before starting rather than discovering complications mid-project.
When to consider migrating away from Umbraco
Umbraco is an excellent CMS, but it is not always the right fit for the long term. If your organisation no longer has .NET developers in-house or on retainer, maintaining an Umbraco site becomes expensive when anything breaks. The pool of Umbraco developers is smaller than WordPress, which means higher day rates and longer waits for availability.
For content-focused sites without complex structured content requirements, WordPress on good managed hosting is often a simpler and lower-cost long-term option. For organisations with complex data structures, a headless CMS such as Contentful or a custom Laravel backend may give more flexibility. We give honest assessments rather than defaulting to one answer.
